“We are longtime citizens of San Carlos who are concerned about the many adverse impacts Sutter/PAMF's hospital plan would have on our city. First, there is no need for a new hospital. There are already three excellent hospitals within a 10 minute drive from San Carlos.

Second, Sutter/PAMF's hospital would jam Holly Street, San Carlos's primary access to Highway 101. It does not take a traffic management expert to predict what would happen if an additional 1000 cars per day are added to the Holly Street and Highway 101 exchange.

Third, because the hospital is a nonprofit foundation, NO additional tax revenues would flow to the city to offset the adverse impact this facility would have on our city.

We believe the land should instead be used for businesses that would contribute to the tax revenue base for the city and provide more job opportunities for local city residents while minimizing the traffic flow impact in this area.”

"San Carlos is a special town that embodies "good living." But our quality of life will be permanently altered by the traffic jams and air and noise pollution created by Sutter/PAMF's proposed hospital- which will be built on a toxic site off of a freeway. The cost of treatment at Sutter/PAMF's hospital will also be too expensive for me or anyone I know to afford. For all of the problems Sutter/PAMF will create, San Carlos will not get anything in return. Sutter/PAMF isn't required to pay property taxes or shoulder some of the cost of caring for local uninsured residents."
